Ben is a Writer and Podcaster whose dark and characterful tales are infused with unrequited optimism and a passion for history. He is the Co-Host of the short story fiction podcast The Tiny Bookcase, which he started with his long-time collaborator Nico Rogers in 2020. He is currently editing his Magicpunk Fantasy novel and co-writing a Dwarven Comedy Fantasy novella whilst producing genre-spanning short fiction. Ben also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and English Literature as well as a Master’s in Literature.
His work is consciously influenced by the stories and styles of Robin Hobb, Ernest Hemingway, Joe Abercrombie, Jane Austen, Frank Herbert, Kurt Vonnegut, J.R.R. Tolkien, Chuck Bukowski, Bernard Cornwell, George R.R. Martin, Joseph Conrad, and Terry Pratchett.
Aside from reading voraciously, Ben also devours Graphic Novels, Comics, Film, TV, and Theatre in search of good yarns. He is an avid Roleplayer, with a love of all systems that promote quality fun and excellent storytelling, and will talk you to death about the best way to Game Master a session.
Born on the outskirts of London, Ben then spent most of his childhood in the North of England before retreating South for University. He has a great love of time well spent in good company and holds few things in higher regard than a good friend. Ben writes, records, and resides in Cambridge.
